Only tickets for two match days are available just before the preliminary rounds begin in Munich.
Two days before the start of the 2019 26th IHF Handball World Championships in Munich, three match days have already sold out. All of the advance tickets for Friday, 11th January, Sunday, 13th January and on the final day of the preliminary round, Thursday, 17th January, have already been sold. As a result, the event organisers are expecting around 11,000 handball fans in the Olympic Hall.
"We're absolutely over the moon about the enormous demand for advance tickets. Who would have imagined it?", says Olympic Park boss Marion Schöne. "And for the two remaining match days, we've already booked more than 80 per cent of the hall's spectator capacity." All in all, over 136,000 tickets have been sold so far for five match days in Munich.
Anyone wanting to watch world-class handball in 2019 will need to hurry, since there are only 1,000 and 1,600 tickets left for Monday, 14th January and Wednesday, 16th January respectively. A new addition for these two match days is the after-work ticket, available from Euro 29, which offers access to the evening match on that day.
The tickets are available to buy in advance only via the official website, handball19.com, or where still available from the box office on the day.
The Munich Olympic Park will play host from the 11th to the 17th of January 2019 to World Championships Group B, in which the former world champions and Olympics winners Croatia will fight it out against the current European champions Spain, as well as Macedonia, Iceland, Bahrain and Japan, with their former German trainer Dagur Sigurdsson.
