Olympic Park honoured! New image wins German Brand Award

With its new corporate design, Olympic Park Munich GmbH has won one of the most prestigious marketing awards in the German-speaking world: the German Brand Award in the category Excellence in Brand Strategy and Creation, Brand Design - Corporate Brand.

We are very proud that our new corporate design has been honoured with such an important industry award. The new corporate design presents the Olympic Park in a lively and modern way. It shows the diversity and uniqueness of our park and references Otl Aicher's visionary design in all areas. The new fresh and cheerful look will help us to visually lead the Olympic Park Munich brand into the future,' says Marion Schöne, Managing Director of Olympic Park Munich GmbH.

The visual identity, including the logo and website relaunch, was developed and implemented in collaboration with Munich-based agency Zeichen & Wunder. The interdisciplinary team developed a lively, agile and flexible design system based on a newly developed corporate identity. The main focus was on creating an authentic, modern brand character to make the Olympic Park and its joie de vivre visible at all points. Special consideration was given to the valuable legacy of Otl Aicher's design for the 1972 Olympic Games, which is reflected in the new design elements.

The independent, interdisciplinary jury from the fields of business, science, consulting, services and agencies justified the award as follows: “With its corporate design refresh, Munich's Olympic Park, a landmark of the city and a centre for events and leisure activities, has set an example for the combination of tradition and future. Through a modern interpretation of Otl Aicher's legendary design for the 1972 Summer Olympics, the new image radiates joie de vivre and dynamism without losing its historical roots. The successful transformation demonstrates how contemporary design can underline the identity and values of a place with a great past and high aspirations for the future. This approach underlines the Munich Olympic Park as a brand characterised by authenticity, cultural diversity and passion.“
