In perfect autumn weather - sunshine and blue skies - around 45,000 Munich residents came to the 8th Outdoor sports festival in the Olympic Park on Sunday to let off steam in what was probably the city's most varied programme of activities.

Breaking workshops, pump track, high ropes course, skyboxing, M-net ice climbing tower, snake boarding or inclusive offers for people with and without disabilities - the selection of over 50 sports on offer was colourful and varied. And, of course, the sports festival, organised by the City of Munich's Department of Education and Sport and Olympic Park Munich GmbH, was once again free of charge.

Mayor Verena Dietl: 'Many Munich residents were out and about today - the open-air sports festival is an impressive demonstration of how lively our city is and how interested our citizens are in sporting activities. I am thrilled by the diversity and commitment of the participants. Together we are promoting not only sport, but also cohesion in our city. I would like to thank everyone who helped to make our festival a special day of sport once again.

As always, the central Hans-Jochen-Vogel-Square was the centre of attention. But there was plenty to do all around - on water, on land and in the air. High above the Olympic Stadium, visitors were able to take part in a taster canopy tour or fly 40 metres above the stadium grass on the 200-metre-long 'M-net Flying Fox'.

Under the motto 'Be there and discover your (outdoor) sport', sports partners - including clubs, associations and institutions - offered hands-on programmes, demonstrations and infotainment, which visitors took up with curiosity and enthusiasm.
