It was a midsummer night's dream for true fans, but instead of the best weather and 35 degrees like last year, thunderstorms and downpours marred the start of Munich's popular cultural event. Despite this, 30,000 people made their way to the Olympic Park to see headliners Nico Santos, co-headliner Stefanie Heinzmann and young German pop singer MELE on the main stage, as well as HyTop Soundsystem, Kid Simius and Erobique & Florence Adooni on the peninsula stage. Finally, a 33-minute fireworks display under the theme 'Rhythm of the Stars' provided goose bumps.

I am very proud of our team that we were able to offer visitors an experience like the Midsummer Night's Dream so soon after our Fan Zone and the B2Run. It was a logistical masterstroke. It makes me all the sadder that we were unlucky with the weather in the first few hours. The fact that so many people still came shows how popular our festival is. Whatever the weather, Midsummer Night's Dream is a firm fixture in fans‘ calendars and, of course, in ours too,’ says Marion Schöne, Managing Director of Olympic Park Munich GmbH.

In addition to the main stage and the peninsula stage, there was plenty of opportunity to dance on two other stages. The female DJ crew from Busy Bandulu and Blanko Malte played on the Pool Stage. Singer-songwriters such as Lamene and Sarah Bugar performed on the Balloon Stage.

The highlight of the evening was a spectacular firework display entitled ‘Rhythm of the Stars’. In a 33-minute production, pyrotechnicians Antonio Parente and Thomas Jorhann conjured up goosebump-inducing fireworks in the Munich night sky. The opening with the epic Game of Thrones theme amazed the audience before more than 30,000 fireworks lit up the sky to the sounds of Bishop & Briggs, Kings of Leon and Two Steps from Hell.
