Five out of six match days are sold out - the atmosphere is fantastic, the fans are celebrating their teams in an exuberant and fair way. "This very special atmosphere, the enthusiasm and joy can be felt in every corner of the Olympic Hall," enthuses Olympic Park Managing Director Marion Schöne and continues: "I think we have prepared the ground for this extremely successful European Championships with the highly acclaimed hosting of the 2019 Handball World Championships. With this tailwind and thanks to the commitment of our highly motivated team, we have also managed to make this tournament a success.
In 2019, the World Handball Championships in the Olympic Hall attracted more than 136,000 spectators over five match days with one preliminary round group without the German team; in 2024, there were two preliminary round groups and 144,500 fans over six days.
"I am proud and happy that we have once again shown that Munich and the Olympic Hall are an ideal venue for major sporting events, especially for handball. In cooperation with the City of Munich, the German Handball Federation and the Bavarian Handball Association, we have inspired tens of thousands of people from Munich and other European countries for this tournament and - in my opinion - successfully presented our business card for the 30th Handball World Championship in 2027 in Germany," said Marion Schöne.
