For about 12,500 people from Munich, the 5th Munich Outdoor Sports Festival on Sunday amid pleasant temperatures and sunshine offered a day full of unique experiences. Whether bouldering, climbing, ski jumping, parcour or playing teqball – all the stations in the Olympic Stadium were very popular with the visitors. For the fifth time now, the Department of Education and Sports of the City of Munich (RBS) and Olympiapark München GmbH had invited all sports enthusiasts to find out more about the attractive range of outdoor sports available with free admission. After the forced break in 2020, this time the Olympic Stadium was the venue for the popular open-air sports spectacle.
Sports Mayor Verena Dietl: "For me it was very important that the Outdoor Sports Festival could take place again this year with a new, adapted concept in the Olympic Stadium. I am very pleased that there was the opportunity for all sports enthusiasts to try out unusual sports and that so many people from Munich took advantage of the offer
In line with the motto: "Be there and discover your (outdoor) sport", a variety of sports partners - including clubs, associations and institutions - offered hands-on programmes, demonstrations and infotainment, which the visitors embraced with tremendous enthusiasm, courage and curiosity in the Olympic Stadium.
Sports Officer Florian Kraus: "At the Outdoor Sports Festival, the people of Munich were able to actively experience how much joy and fun it is to do sports outdoors. If the citizens then feel like learning a new sport or becoming a member of a sports club, we have achieved our goal."
The vaccination campaign during the Outdoor Sports Festival in the Olympic Park was also successful: 250 people had been immunised by the vaccination teams on Hans-Jochen-Vogel-Platz by the afternoon.
