49,000 visitors celebrate the festival première of ROCKAVARIA!
Hear them roar! On each day of that weekend, some 49,000 rock fans partied along to shows by MUSE, KISS and METALLICA as well as another 60 top-name bands from the international rock scene.
Amid gloriously sunny festival weather, the fans enjoyed the ultimate early summer rock event in Munich’s Olympiapark last weekend. In exuberant glee, the fans drank 120,000 litres of beer at this rock event spanning three stages: in the Olympic Stadium, the Olympiahalle and the Theatron, the world's greatest rock bands played out their amazing shows. ROCKAVARIA is the rock event of the season and it's already been announced that it’s going to continue in 2016!
So it's no wonder that the press was ecstatic: “At last, a rock festival in our city” (BILD”, "Munich rocks! ROCKAVARIA is becoming an institution!” (tz), “Endless excitement” (Müncher Merkur).
The event organiser, Prof. Peter Schwenkow, CEO of DEAG, is also delighted by the popularity of ROCKAVARIA in Munich and its sister festival ROCK IM REVIER in Gelsenkirchen: “These festivals are a triumph for the artists and for their fans. And yet again, it’s obvious that ultimately only one thing matters - the power of music!”
The fans who really let their hair down this weekend were in great spirits too. Partying along with the fantastic line-up was the plan for the festival-goers, who moved around between the three stages to put together their own personal best-of programme from the tremendous range of bands appearing. And those programmes were full of wall-to-wall, unadulterated rock. The Theatron turned out to be a real hot tip, featuring acts such as Orange Goblin from stoner rock, hard acts like Kvelertak and hardcore punk legends like Sick Of It All. The Olympiahalle rocked out to top acts such as Airbourne and Limp Bizkit. And on the main stage in the stadium, everyone from hardcore rockers to the alternative rockers found something to their taste. Alongside the headliners such as MUSE, KISS and METALLICA, bands such as Faith No More, Judas Priest and Incubus provided entertainment at its finest.
2016: more to come!!
