Whether ‘Ich Roque’ or ‘Ein Kompliment’, whether ‘New York, Rio, Rosenheim’ or ‘Ein Geschenk’: with their songs and anthems, Sportfreunde have become the best-known and most influential Munich band of the past decades. It all began in Germering, where Hans Stiller became the namesake of the combo, which was founded in 1996, as coach of the district league team. As passionate football fans, Peter Brugger (Bayern) and Flo Weber (Sechzig) kept coming to matches at the Olympic Stadium. And if they couldn't afford the tickets for stadium concerts, they would watch the open-air performances of the Stones or U2 from the Olympiaberg.
At the turn of the millennium, the Sportfreunde then gave their first open air performance in the Olympic Park, at the summer festival at the Theatron. After their absolute breakthrough with the albums ‘Die gute Seite’ (2002) and ‘Burli’ (2004), they played the Olympic Hall for the first time in May 2004. They travelled there by bike for their debut performance and delivered a legendary concert in front of 10,000 completely enthusiastic fans. More great evenings followed, whether in 2007, 2010 or at a double concert in 2014. Now Peter, Flo and Rüde are returning on their anniversary tour. Applause, applause.
