Bryan Ferry, Milow, Tim Bendzko and the Pointer Sisters are the headlining acts on this 25th “Classic-meets-Pop” Anniversary tour. On this historic occasion, the organisers are taking the crossover experience to a whole new level!
Thanks to the Night of the Proms, over the past 25 years much has been done to bridge the gap between classical and pop music. Despite the difficulties and opposition sometimes encountered, especially in the early days, this has become one of the most successful events on the European tour calendar.
Once again, this year's anniversary brings together a mix of exceptional artists performing their greatest hits, accompanied by the Antwerp Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Brazilian conductor, Alexandra Arrieche. On this 25th Anniversary Concert Tour John Miles’s "Music (Was My First Love)”, the unofficial Night of the Proms soundtrack, is set to take the audience by storm.
Rocketing to fame as Roxy Music frontman at the beginning of the 1970’s, Bryan Ferry quickly secured his place as one of the best-known and most innovative singers and lyricists in what was then called Glam Rock. Even after so many years, Bryan Ferry hits such as "Slave to Love" and "More than This" continue to enjoy regular airplay on German radio.
Tim Bendzko has been a sensation since he took the German pop scene by storm in 2011. In 2018, he’s set to perform at the Night of the Proms with orchestral backing.
Milow shot on to the German charts with his 2007 hit "You don´t Know", remaining on the Top 50 for 35 weeks. The following year, his suggestive international hit: "Ayo Technology" was massively successful. Few performers have managed to chalk up such a large number of gold and platinum awards!
Having booked the Pointer Sisters from the USA, the event organizer can take credit for a show of true Women Power! At their 2002 Night of the Proms performance, the audience responded with thunderous applause. In the aftermath of disco classics such as "I'm so Excited", "Fire" and "Jump (For my Love)" the three Sisters continue to top the best party playlists even today.
With his masterful classical playing, Petrit Ceku is the featured 2018 Classical Soloist. The late and highly respected critic Colin Cooper (one of the foremost writers on the classical guitar), called Petrit Ceku an "exceptionally gifted" player. At leading international guitar competitions this guitarist from Kosovo has walked away with numerous awards. These include the "Parkening International Guitar Competition" in Malibu (USA), the "Schadt String Competition" in Allentown (USA), the "International Maurizio Biasini Guitar Competition" in Bologna (Italy) and the "International Michele Pittaluga Guitar Competition" in Alessandria (Italy).
