The singer was born Luca Manuel Montesinos Gargallo in Bielefeld in 1994. He first came into contact with rap music at primary school when his cousin introduced him to the music of Eminem and 50 Cent. Montez wrote his first lyrics at the age of 13 and released his first mixtape ‘Punchlines eines Melancholikers’ in 2010. His career soon took off: The ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award, the debut album ‘Venedig’, then as support on tour with rapper Kool Savas, and finally, at 18, an appearance at the legendary ‘Splash’ festival on the main stage in front of US megastar Kendrick Lamar.
But the rise also took its toll. Depression, panic attacks and writer's block put him out of action musically; instead, he worked as a parcel deliverer and pizza delivery boy. The move to Berlin in 2018 was a turning point. As a songwriter, Montez wrote songs for Helene Fischer and Wincent Weiss, among others, before starting out again as a musician himself. He reached number 9 in the charts with ‘Herzinfucked’ (2022) and ‘Liebe in Gefahr’ took him to number 1 for the first time in 2023. After his appearance at Tollwood 2024, Montez is now coming back to Munich on 26 September 2025 - for his debut at the Olympic Hall.
