From 2011 to 2016, the artist from Seattle was one half of the duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Together they celebrated great successes; their albums "The Heist" and "This Unruly Mess I've Made" both landed in the top ten of the album charts in the USA and in Germany. The two singles "Can't Hold Us" and "Thrift Shop" even reached the top position in the Billboard Top 40. During this time, both received numerous gold and platinum awards as well as four Grammys and four MTV Video Music Awards.
In 2017, Macklemore released his first studio album "Gemini", which immediately reached number 2 in the US charts. In addition to his music, the rapper also devotes himself to social projects. Due to his own past and his struggle with drugs, he has repeatedly used his popularity to raise awareness for the topics of addiction and recovery. For example, as co-founder of "The Residency", he supports a hip-hop and youth development programme that provides outstanding opportunities for young aspiring artists to further their education. With new hits from his current album "Ben" (release: March 2023), Macklemore comes to the Olympic Hall on 24 April 2023.
