On April 10, 2023, the men's national team will start its preparation for the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship to be held in Tampere (FIN) and Riga (LAT) from May 12 to 28.

The program is divided into four phases, three of which will take place in Germany and one in Slovakia. Seven test games are scheduled for the DEB squad during this period - five of the games will be played in home arenas.

After the preparation phase of about four weeks, the team around the new national coach Harold Kreis will leave for Tampere (FIN) on May 10 and will play the first World Cup group game against Sweden there on May 12.
