Europe's most successful gymnastics show will once again be a show full of contrasts - diverse, spectacular and breathtaking! At the same time, the creative team will masterfully merge these contrasts into an emotional work of art. GAIA will take a look at the marvellous nature between heaven and earth and, above all, will be highly emotional.
‘Great emotions are at the centre of GAIA,’ emphasises artistic and musical director Rick Jurthe. With its soundtrack, composed exclusively for the new tour, the show will not only penetrate everyone musically. To embody this monumentality of nature, director Heidi Aguilar is using large swarm-like images this year. Inspired by swarms of birds and fish, the Feuerwerk der Turnkunst show team, for example, will take up the entire stage. In addition, the breathtaking synchronisation of the Japanese floor gymnasts from the Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts, the acrobatics of the Chinese Zunyi Troupe, which combine the elements, as well as impressive fire and pyrotechnics will make the unifying forces between heaven and earth tangible.
The fire of life
Fire will play a decisive role in the show. Covered in lava, the show's protagonists emerge from the earth's core and embody the originality of life and nature. At the same time, the story of GAIA will be staged in a modern way using contemporary dance, which is one of the reasons why it is so in tune with the times. The need to reflect on the power of nature seems to be more topical than ever. GAIA takes a slightly different look at the phenomena between heaven and earth. The show will appear very real and in the here and now, despite its primal nature. Powerful and deeply graceful, at the same time passionately monumental and full of refreshing joy - GAIA promises enchanting and extremely emotional hours and will transport the audience into a fantastic world of the most extraordinary movement arts.
