In a 34-minute production, Italian fireworks expert Antonio Parente and Olympic Park pyrotechnician Thomas Jorhann lit up the sky above the Olympic Park in breathtaking colours. They set off over 30,000 fireworks in perfect time to the music, with songs by artists such as Linkin Park, Bon Jovi and Materia.
The sweltering heat did nothing to dampen the good atmosphere in the Olympic Park. Although the shady spots were in great demand and the free water dispensers set up in the Olympic Park were in constant use, the people of Munich celebrated their midsummer night's dream despite everything.
"What a day, what an atmosphere - summer weather at its best, fantastic bands and artists and a fireworks display that was simply marvellous. I am really happy that we were able to offer our visitors this summer experience. And I'm already looking forward to next year, when we can all dream together again on 20 July," said Marion Schöne, Managing Director of Olympic Park Munich GmbH.
The overall concept of musical variety, culinary delights from all over the world and one of the biggest pyro shows in Germany once again made the Midsummer Night's Dream a highlight in the Olympic Park's calendar of events.
