Skate punk legends BLINK-182 are back and announce four headline shows this year.
Since BLINK-182 started playing in a San Diego garage just under a quarter of a century ago, their career has been a string of unbroken success. Over 50 million records sold worldwide – certified circa 30 times platinum, gold and silver – gives a clear idea of the Californian band’s success. Consistent with their motto “Crappy punk rock since 1992”, BLINK-182 are characterized by their snotty punk-rock style, the high-paced drum beats of Travis Barker, and the ever-childish and defiant attitude of their lyrics.
After the separation from co-founder Tom DeLonge, the band found a worthy successor in Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba and pushed on with their new album. The title, "California", seems to state the direction of the album, which goes back to the roots after the somewhat experimental previous album "Neighborhoods".
Short, fast, rough and loud – this is their mission, and one BLINK-182 accomplish very well. From the trio’s legendary live shows we can expect a punk festival of the greatest sort.
