Inspired by George McCrae's disco classic ‘Rock Your Baby’, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus began composing a danceable disco song in the summer of 1975 - and instantly won over their two fellow musicians with the finished ‘Dancing Queen’. ‘It was one of those songs that goes straight to your heart,’ Anni-Frid Lyngstad once said, while Agnetha Fältskog said: ’It's hard to say which song will be a hit, you don't always feel it. ‘Dancing Queen’ was an exception. We knew immediately that it would be huge.’ And indeed it was.
In addition to top placings in their home country of Sweden, in Germany and the UK, ‘Dancing Queen’ also landed at the top in the USA: the only song with which Abba made it to number 1 in the Billboard charts. In addition to the homage to this great classic, Abbamania 2026 will of course once again feature all the other great hits by the four music legends, from ‘Mamma Mia’ and ‘SOS’ to ‘The Winner Takes It All’ and many more - interpreted by the Symphonic Rock Orchestra and the Abbamanina band with outstanding singers, with costumes true to the original, rousing performances and a phenomenal light show.
