After months of practice, thousands of children's voices rise up again shortly before the summer holidays to sing together in a choir. Accompanied by a 16-piece live band and a brilliant stage show, the children create overwhelming concert experiences and goosebump moments with their performances. With new songs and ideas, the final concerts of the music project are scheduled for June 2023 in the largest concert venues in the regions.
Inspiration for music teaching and choir work 6K UNITED! wants to inspire children to sing and make music in the long term and offer teachers, music educators and choir leaders variety, inspiration and know-how for innovative, holistic and lively music teaching. The project promotes basic musical skills, a sense of rhythm and the proper use of one's own voice. 6K UNITED! brings together thousands of children from all school types, social classes and cultures. Participation creates enormous self-confidence, strengthens the ability to concentrate and team spirit. The anticipation of the concerts makes all participants rise above themselves and grow together. For many, this becomes a formative key experience for their further career.
The 2023 repertoire The musical and pedagogical director Prof. Fabian Sennholz trains future music teachers for all types of schools at the Frankfurt University of Music and is Tim Bendzko's pianist. He trains the participating teachers in teacher workshops and conducts the choirs on the concert days. For 2023, Fabian has compiled new songs and arranged them in a child-friendly way, suitable for all types of schools thanks to different levels of difficulty. The repertoire contains mainly German-language songs and ranges from classical to pop, from international hits to folklore. In addition to pop hits, the children can draw inspiration from various styles: "Schön genug" (Haller), "99 Luftballons" (Nena), "Komm aus den Puschen" (Deine Freunde), "Abendsegen" (Engelbert Humperdinck) and also once again "Kinder an die Macht" (Herbert Grönemeyer), which has become a 6K UNITED! anthem. There will also be "Gerade jetzt" (Mark Forster) and once again a medley, this year called "Wertvoll", which combines fragments of the following songs: "Ich glaub an Dich" (Gregor Meyle), "Chöre" (Mark Forster), "So wie Du bist" (MoTrip feat. Lary), "Sag mir was Du willst" (Clueso), "Keine Party" (Deichkind), "Wie schön Du bist" (Sarah Connor), "Mein Ding" (Udo Lindenberg) and "Einmal im Leben" (Wincent Weiss). Also included are the Ukrainian folk song "Schtschedryk", "Wer rettet die Welt für mich" (Tim Bendzko), "Liebe" (Moop Mama) and "No Roots" (Alice Merton).
Final concerts as a highlight
The highlights of the project are the big final concerts. In the large concert arenas where the children's idols usually perform, up to 6,000 participants come together to sing the songs they have learned together for the first time as part of what is probably the largest children's choir in Germany. On the day of the concert, the children surpass themselves. They are the stars and together they create deeply moving and formative concert experiences. To feel the pride and excitement of all the participants is touching. Families, friends and everyone else experience the overwhelming spirit that makes the 6K UNITED! concerts so special.
