Chris Rea made a healthy impression – despite his serious illness in recent years. Nevertheless, this handprint could be the last thing that his fans in Munich will ever see him doing “live” in the city.
But from now on, his fans will then be able to see his big strong hands in the cement plaque beside the Olympic Lake. Hands that not only pluck delicate guitar strings, but are also used to tougher work: as he was immortalised at the ceremony, Chris proudly related how he had built a fountain at his house just last year out of the very same material that he was now pressing his hands into.
And to prove that he could handle cement, the old Blues Rocker quickly sketched a drawing on the slab, upside down from his viewpoint ... ... but just right for the photographers standing opposite...
