SAP Garden

It is Munich's most modern multi-purpose arena - and the new spectacular venue for the ice hockey cracks of EHC Red Bull Munich and the basketball stars of FC Bayern: with a capacity of up to 11,500 seats, the SAP Garden is also one of the largest multi-purpose arenas in the whole of Germany. But popular sport also has a new home here.

The green garden in the park: new home for ice hockey, basketball and popular sports

At the 1972 Summer Olympics, track cyclists competed for medals at this location. Following the demolition of the old Olympic cycling stadium, planning began for a modern multifunctional hall, which opened in autumn 2024 after a four-year construction period. After EHC Red Bull Munich moved out of the old Olympic Ice Sports Centre, the SAP Garden is now the new home venue for the multiple German ice hockey champions. FC Bayern's basketball team will also play around 20 home games here each season, mainly top international matches against the top teams from the Euroleague. Thanks to an innovative grandstand system, the capacity can be flexibly adjusted from match to match, with a maximum capacity of 11,500 spectators in the Garden. Three separate ice rinks are also available for club and amateur sports. Architecturally, the arena blends in with the garden landscape of the Olympic Park. Incidentally, the grassed roof was planted with the same mixture of meadow grasses that can also be found in the park.
